Emily Clark, MA, PCC is an independently licensed professional clinical counselor who holds a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University.
Emily has had experience working with depression, anxiety, identity issues, relationship difficulties, trauma and violence, substance abuse, and diverse other concerns. She practices an integrative, strengths-based approach of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy using an affirmative perspective. Emily also takes a mind-body wellness approach to counseling. She understands that typical mental health diagnoses and treatment modalities are often based on hetero-normative assumptions, but in her practice specific nuances of the LGBTQ population are taken into consideration. Her broad understanding of family informs her ability to work with issues faced with families of origin and various parenting issues.
Emily attempts to create a warm, welcoming, and affirming environment for each person with whom she works. Congruent with Stonewall’s mission, she is inclusive and positive. She has a non-judgmental and compassionate approach to each individual and she understands that every person has their own unique story. Emily has a passion for fostering hope within her clients and facilitating positive change. She is extremely enthusiastic about the opportunity to provide counseling at Stonewall and offer services for those who need extra support.
When she’s not with clients, Emily enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, photography, reading, and catching up on her DVR.
Emily has been a full time employee at North Central Mental Health for over 3 years and began her new assignment at Stonewall on October 1, 2012.
