Basic and Intermediate Drum Workshops
Sunday August 29 and September 5 from 3-5pm at the Center on High

Register for September 5th Class
Wahru will cover djembe’ and ashiko basic and intermediate techniques, hand positions for base, tone, slap, how to play the heartbeat bass drum (dun drum), timing, playing with balance, feeling the rhythm, how to play together, 4/4 and 6/8 drum beats, bell patterns, and finding a beat that fits when jamming. Though the focus is Afrocentric, participants will experience rhythm patterns that may be used in facilitated and freestyle circle drumming.
Participants are asked to register since class size is limited. Payments will only be taken at the class.
Do you have to have a drum to participate?
Drums will be available at the workshop.
